The Massachusetts Bar Association’s Tiered Community Mentoring Program

The original idea for the Tiered Community Mentoring initiative came from Chief Justice of the Probate and Family Court, Angela M. Ordoñez, and its goal is to match practicing attorneys with students from local high schools, colleges and law schools. This year, the program has grown from 40 to nearly 50 participants. MBA President Douglas K. Sheff welcomed this year’s group of attorney mentors and student mentees. He stressed the significance of both mentoring and networking as students complete their education and enter into the professional world. Sheff made a point to speak about his father, the late attorney Irving “Chick” Sheff, who began mentoring him as a child. Now as an adult and an attorney, Sheff has realized how valuable that education was for him and how much he truly has benefited from it.
